A hearing is set for today in Madison to listen to public opinion on a woodchuck hunting season.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- The state Assembly's natural resources committee is set to listen to the public's thoughts on a woodchuck hunting season.

Republicans and Democrats have introduced a bill that would remove woodchucks from Wisconsin's protected species list and establish a season that would run from March 1 through Dec. 31. Hunters and trappers would be allowed to take an unlimited number of woodchucks.

The hearing is set for Wednesday morning in the state Capitol. The committee isn't expected to vote on the bill.
