Wis. state rep convicted of disorderly conduct

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State Rep. Brett Hulsey has pleaded no contest to a disorderly conduct citation after police accused him of flipping a boy off his inner tube and taking pictures of him at a Madison beach last month.

According to a police report, the 9-year-old boy was swimming with friends at the beach on the evening of July 4. The boy told police Hulsey flipped him off his inner tube, then walked up onto the beach and took pictures of him.

Hulsey, a Madison Democrat, tells The Associated Press the boy was splashing other children from his tube and Hulsey was concerned about their safety. He says he startled the boy and he rolled off his tube.

He says the boy inadvertently ended up in a picture he took of the sunset.
