MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- State health officials are seeking public comments on a draft plan to fight obesity in Wisconsin.

The plan lays out a number of goals to reach by 2020, including decreasing the percentage of obese adults from 27 percent to 24 percent; decreasing the percentage of overweight or obese high school students from 23 percent to 21 percent; and increasing the percentage of adults who consume fruits at least twice a day from 35 percent to 39 percent.

The plan calls for compact community design that enables more people to bike or walk to work and school, an hour of physical activity for schoolchildren and time for workers to exercise.

The state Department of Health Services will take written comments until July 18. The plan is available online at the Department of Health's website.
