Wisconsin Senate Race tackles rights issues

(WEAU)--With less than thirty days left before election day gun control and Medicare are front and center in a high profile Wisconsin senate race.
Former Governor Tommy Thompson and Rep Tammy Baldwin are vying for Wisconsin's open Senate seat.

The National Rifle Association officially endorsed Republican Senate Candidate Tommy Thompson today in Chippewa Falls.

"There are a lot of liberals who own guns but don't want you to have a gun," said NRA President David Keene

Keene says one of those candidates is Thompson's opponent Democrat Tammy Baldwin.

"She supported establishment of a federal registry of fire arms something that the NRA and supporters have always opposed," said Keene.

Baldwin, who owns a gun herself, says she supports gun ownership.

Today, Baldwin was endorsed by the Alliance of Retired Americans.

“I regard Medicare and Social Security as a promise and something I won’t get rid of here in Wisconsin or anywhere and that is what this election is so important,” said Tammy Baldwin
