Wisconsin petroleum pipeline repaired, restarted
MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- A petroleum pipeline between Milwaukee and Green Bay that was shut down because of a gasoline leak has been repaired and restarted.
West Shore Pipe Line Co. said in a statement early Sunday that the pipeline was restarted about 8 p.m. Saturday. The pipeline was shut down after the leak was detected Tuesday near Jackson.
Gov. Scott Walker issued an energy emergency proclamation Saturday because of concerns the shutdown would cause gas shortages in the Green Bay area.
The proclamation makes drivers of gasoline trucks exempt from weekly hours of service restrictions on all state highways for 10 days.
West Shore says crews are testing soil, air quality and water in the area where the leak happened. It says no harm to air quality or water has been detected.
