Wisconsin remains top cranberry producer

MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) -- A recent government report shows that Wisconsin has remained the top cranberry producer in America.

The Office of the Governor announced Thursday that the United State Department of Agriculture released a production report this week that shows Wisconsin growers harvested 6,020,000 barrels of cranberries last year. The total was less than 5,000,000 barrels in 2012.

The release said that Wisconsin's total for 2013 was three times the production of Massachusetts, which is the next-highest-producing state. Wisconsin produced 67 percent of the nation's cranberries last year.
