BARABOO, Wis. (AP) -- A 28-year-old Wisconsin Dells man convicted of vehicular homicide has been spared jail time.

The Baraboo News Republic reports a judge ruled Casey Wright guilty but not mentally responsible for the death of Lisa Mikec. He will remain free, but must receive treatment for mental illness.

In a sentencing hearing Tuesday, the judge ordered Wright will continue to live with his mother and submit to random drug testing, psychotherapy and medication.

The judge said action will be taken if Wright doesn't comply with the terms of his treatment plan.

Wright had marijuana in his system and told police he thought demons were chasing him when he was arrested.
