Wisconsin woman wins national chip contest

Wausau, WI (WSAW) - A Wisconsin woman is one million dollars richer thanks to her potato chip creation and the votes of thousands online.

Karen Weber-Mendham was officially crowned the winner of the Lay’s Do us a Flavor contest Monday night.

The mother of three from Land O' Lakes Wisconsin was picked as a finalist from 3.8 million entries. America voted for her cheesy garlic bread flavor creation.

Before she won, Mendham told our Wausau affiliate she'll put her prize money to good use.

"I'm too middle class to go too crazy. I might get a new used car, something like that, or shoes,” she said.

Cheesy Garlic Bread beat out Chicken and Waffles and Sriracha flavored chips to win the grand prize.
