Woman arrested after leading officers on foot chase

BARRON, Wis. (BARRON COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT) -- On August 14, 2014, the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department passed on information to the Chetek Police Department that a 20 year old female with a New Auburn address may be at a residence in Chetek. The female was wanted for a vehicle theft and was in possession of a stolen firearm. Due to the background of the female and the possibility of a weapon being involved, the Barron County Emergency Response Team was called out.

A perimeter was set up around the residence in Chetek and as the warrant was being drafted for the residence a vehicle left the residence and was stopped by a Chetek Police Officer and Barron County Sheriff’s Deputies. As the vehicle came to a stop a female jumped out of the passenger side of the vehicle and took off running.

A foot chase ensued and the female ran into a residence near the stop and was taken into custody without and further incident. The female that ran was the 20 year old suspect wanted by Chippewa County.

The female was turned over to the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department and a search of the vehicle did produce one stolen firearm as well as other items of interest to Chippewa County.

The remainder of this case is being handled by the Chippewa County Sheriff’s Department.
