Woman arrested for OWI, with 3 children in vehicle

DUNN COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU) -- A 25-year-old woman from Madison was arrested in Dunn County for driving under the influence, 1st offense, with three children in the vehicle.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says Shy'Lechia Shney Griffin was arrested early Saturday morning. Around 1 a.m., Eau Claire dispatch got a report of a vehicle in the north ditch of I-94 at mile marker 35 westbound.

Dunn County deputies found the vehicle driven by Griffin left the roadway and crashed. Griffin along with three children passengers, ages 11, 7 and 2 were hurt.

The State Patrol reports they were all taken to Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire where Griffin was treated and arrested for operating while intoxicated causing injury, knowingly operating without a valid license and causing harm.

The children were treated and released to responsible family members.

The case is under investigation by the Dunn County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
