Woman hospitalized after crash in Chippewa County

HOLCOMBE, Wis. (WEAU)-- A 79-year-old woman was taken to the hospital after crashing on Highway 27 in Holcombe.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Department says the woman was driving in the southbound lane of Highway 27 at County Road M just before 12:30 Monday afternoon, when her car went off the road and hit some trees. Deputies say it was the only vehicle involved.

The woman, who is from Ladysmith, was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The southbound lane of 27 was closed for almost two hours while crews responded.
