LA CROSSE, Wis. (WEAU) – A woman was ticketed for trespassing after falling from Grandad Bluff Tuesday morning.
It happened around 7:30 a.m. The La Crosse Fire Department says crews responded to a report of a 22-year-old woman who may have broken her leg. After talking with her by cell phone, crews found her around 8 a.m. near the face of a rock ledge. The fire department calls it an area that is littered with glass and rocks, and is very steep.
“Once she was located, rescue three personnel had determined that she had fallen possibly 40 to 45 feet,” said Captain Frank Devine of the La Crosse Fire Department.
Rescue crews treated the woman, and moved her on a rope-lowering system to the base of the bluffs. She was taken to the hospital.
The woman, whose name wasn't released, was ticketed for trespassing in an unauthorized area of the bluff. The ticket comes with a fine of almost $300.
