NEW INFORMATION: Woman injured in fire near Eleva

ELEVA, Wis (WEAU) -- A woman is listed in good condtition after suffering burns in a house fire Saturday afternoon.

Eleva Fire Department says they responded to a report of a fire around 4:45pm.

Devin Becker, who was home at the time the fire started, told responders that she was trying to light the fire place when an 'explosion' occured. She told crews she was knocked unconscious and when she came to the walls of the house were on fire.
Becker was able to escape the home.

She suffered burns and was airlifted to a hospital in the cities.

Crews said when they arrived, the house was engulfed in flames.
Highway 93 was closed for around three hours due to a high volume of police and tanker traffic.

This morning crews were called back to the home because of rekindled flames but were able to quickly put them out.

One dog and two cats died in the fire. The house is a total loss.

The Becker family said the community has been very generous with donations, but that they could still use beds, bedding, summer clothes or gift cards. To make a donation, contact the Co-op Credit Union in Strum at (715) 695-2615.

ELEVA, Wis. (WEAU) -- A woman is injured after a fire broke out in a home near Eleva earlier today. Fire crews say the when they arrived late Saturday afternoon the home was fully engulfed in flames. The smoke caused both lanes of part of Highway 93 to close.

Fire crews tell the woman was in the home at the time the fire started. She was airlifted to Regions Hospital, in the Twin Cities. The name has not been released. It took crews over an hour to put out the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

“We have problems with things freezing up, guys getting cold and equipment freezing, that's for sure. It looks like it's going to be pretty close to a total loss. We're trying to get it mopped up now to get it down,” said Eleva Fire Department Assistant Chief, Roger Lokken.

Firefighters say they don't yet know the cause, but that the fire has likely started on the south side of the home.

TREMPEALEAU COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)-- WEAU is following breaking news in Trempealeau County.

Deputies say fire crews responded to reports of a house fire at 4:45-pm this evening.

Deputies also say one person has been airlifted to a hospital, and Highway 93 is closed to traffic.
