NEW INFORMATION: Name released in deadly Polk County crash

POLK COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)-- UPDATE: Deputies have released the name of the woman killed in a crash in Polk County Friday morning.

The Polk County Sheriff's Department says 61-year-old Cynthia L. Throngard, of Grantsburg, was killed.

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. Friday on Highway 87 in the Town of Sterling, near the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.

Deputies say Throngard lost control on snow covered roads, slid into the oncoming lane and hit a semi. She died at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.

POLK COUNTY, Wis. (WEAU)--One person was killed in a crash in Polk County Friday morning.

The crash happened around 10:15 on Highway 87 in the Town of Sterling, near the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.

Deputies say the driver of an SUV lost control on snow covered roads, slid into the oncoming lane and hit a semi. The driver of the SUV, a woman from Grantsburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The semi driver was not hurt.

The name of the woman has not been released.
