Woman killed in crash

ELLSWORTH, Wis. (WEAU) – A crash involving a car and a van has killed one driver and sent another to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says Katherine Kennedy, 25, of River Falls was driving a car north on State Highway 65 around 7:30 a.m. Thursday at County Road J, north of Ellsworth. She lost control going around a curve in the road, and crossed the center line. The car collided with a van that was going in the opposite direction. That driver, William Platz, 50, of River Falls went to the hospital. Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

The sheriff’s department says light snow had made the road slippery. Both vehicles ended up with major damage.
