Job Description

Main Purpose:

- Assist doctors with LVC surgery
- Assist in surgery by preparing the laser room with supplies and sterilized equipment and restocking following refractive procedures
- Provide pre-operative care to patients on surgery days and post-operative care to patients during surgery and post-operative appointments
- Follow standard operating procedures that protect the patients, doctors and staff from undue risk and liability
- Primary patient liaison from the time the patient enters the center
- Ophthalmic testing, including auto refraction, visual acuity, topographical mapping, oberometry measurements, lensometry and eye dilation in a manner consistent with TLC's Gold Standard approach
- Stock all medication and medical supplies ensuring proper quantities are on hand at all times
- Effective communication of pricing and packages consistent with TLC's Gold Standard approach; effective and timely follow-up to prospective, current and past patients; and patient closing, including surgery and post-op scheduling, financial and informed consent discussions
- Calibrate equipment, including laser, maintain surgical instruments, flapmakers; schedule timely maintenance of all equipment in the surgical suite and eye lanes

Responsibilities:

- Provides great customer service; delivers high customer service (always be friendly and helpful); exhibits a good balance of listening and verbal communication skills
- Primary staff member to develop bond with patients ensuring they feel welcomed, understood and appreciated not only during consultation, but day of surgery as well
- Advanced knowledge of TLC's value to prospective patients: packages and pricing, TLC's experience and quality of care, local surgeon experience and bio details. Enables CDs and surgeons to smoothly and effectively deliver excellence in technical aspects of patient care
- Ophthalmic/optometric experience is preferred; ability to effectively complete testing associates with consult work up; detailed oriented and technical ability to support surgery day requirements; Cosmetic surgery or high end medical services experience (customer service orientation)
- Excellent communication and listening skills; proficient with standard office equipment; ability to multi-task; work with a high degree of professionalism
- Willingness to be cross-trained and fill in for other staff members; exemplary organizational skills; and comfortably overcome obstacles to a procedure scheduling
