This position will provide environmental health services for residents of Rusk County as outlined by Federal regulations; State Statutes, grants, administrative rules; and county ordinances. This position is responsible for inspecting and licensing Food Safety and Recreational Licensing regulated establishments, carrying out duties of the DNR Transient Non-Community Well Program, conducting human health hazard investigations, and responding to general environmental health questions from the public.
The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• A baccalaureate or higher degree in environmental or public health from an accredited college or university.
• Successfully obtain State of WI Registered Sanitarian or National Environmental Health Association Registered Environmental Health Specialist status within one year of employment.
• Strong working knowledge of environmental health principles, including but not limited to: building science, plumbing, lead, water & wastewater, fire safety, communicable disease, food safety, and vector-borne diseases.
• Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance required; reliable vehicle preferred.
Salary is $24.83 per hour with generous fringe benefits.
