Im sorry to hear the passing of John Hoffland,he was a great person,i had a chance to talk with him outside tv-13 one cold day, when the station was getting rid of old equipment,he asked what id be doing with the stuff? i told him i collect the old stuff and he told me that he knew of a company in hollywood that collected radio stuff for movie props, that was the kind of guy John was,he was a very personable guy even to the aveage joe.I was very impressed by his interest in my hobby. To his family all my thoughts and prayers,The media world will miss his kindness and true spirit. I just wanted to offer my regrets that I was unable to celebrate John's life with everyone. As a former videographer under John, like so many others, he inspired me in so many ways. You will be missed, John, but I will always carry with me your advise, your teachings, and of course, your 'quick' stories. Even though I am no longer directly in the news biz, the experience that I gained in my two stints with WEAU helped set me up for a future of sucess, and I owe a lot of that to John. Thank you for giving me the opportunity and helping me grow not only as a professional, but also as a person. God bless you and your family, and thank you for the memories. - Woody Former WEAU videographer

My deepest condolences to Penny and Lukas and other Hoffland family members. John and I were pretty tight in the mid- to late '70s when he lived by himself in a rented house along the Mississippi River in Minnesota. I had many good times at his place with him and friends. I left the La Crosse area to take what ended up to be a 27-year job reporting news for The Muskegon (MI) Chronicle. John paid me one visit in the late '80s or early '90s when he was in town for a TV news conference, and we shared a few hours of reminiscing. I'm profoundly sorry to hear of the loss of my old friend. Dick Davies Muskegon MI 4445
