The Macks got off to a quick start against the Thorp Cardinals. Christi Schoch singled to left scoring Jessica Freagon to put McDonell on top one early.
Thorp answered in the bottom of the inning, as Nadine Romag belted a two-run homerun off of Ashley Meinen to give the Cardinals the lead.
They would add to it in the bottom of the next inning, as Katelyn Schesel scored on a fielder's choice play to put Thorp up by two.
Trailing by one going into the final inning, the McDonell Macks put together an impressive rally. With one out, Leisha Brzozowski singled to right and that allowed Kasey Janc to score the tying run. Later in the inning, Jessica Freagon belted a shot to right center that got away from Jessica Abramczak. Some nifty base-running turned it into a three-run inside-the-park home run for the Macks who hung on to win 7-4 claiming their first ever WIAA D-4 State Softball Title.
