Down 21-0 at halftime, the Arcadia football team broke through for a touchdown in the third quarter, but the Raiders couldn't stop St. Mary's Springs from putting up 21 more points in the second half, falling 42-7 Thursday in the Division 5 state title game.
Prior to the Raiders loss, the Eau Claire Regis football team fell to the Edgar Wildcats in the WIAA Division 6 state title game, 46-7.
Edgar wide receiver Dylan Smith corralled a deflected pass from quarterback Justin Sinz and raced into the end zone to give the Wildcats an early 6-0 lead. Sinz would then add the two-point conversion to put Edgar in front, 8-0.
Sinz again had a hand in Edgar's next score, drilling a field goal to put the Wildcats out in front, 11-0, over the Ramblers.
In the second quarter, Edgar's Sam Lemmer scampered for the Wildcats' third touchdown of the day to hand his team a 18-0 advantage. With under a minute to go until halftime, Jorie Skryzpchak hit paydirt for Edgar's fourth touchdown of the half, giving Edgar a 25-0 lead over the Ramblers.
Edgar began the second half just like the end of the first, with Sinz connecting with Derek Durkee for a touchdown to put the Wildcats in front, 32-0.
Earlier today, the Chippewa Falls McDonell football team fell to Burlington Catholic Central in the Division 7 state title game, 27-15.
