Heart failure patients who went to the hospital on Thursdays and Fridays stayed slightly longer than those who were admitted on other days.

Tuesday admissions were generally associated with the shortest length of hospital stays.

The study included data on nearly 50,000 patients.

Researchers say this indicates weekend hospital staffing may need to be adjusted in some hospitals

And in other medical news…
The federal aviation administration says no to Chantix for pilots and air traffic controllers while at work.

The popular smoking-cessation medicine has been flagged for physical and psychiatric side-effects including suicide and heart trouble.

On Wednesday, the FAA banned the use of Chantix by pilots and air traffic controllers after a report by the institute for safe medication practices released a report Tuesday listing these possible side-effects.

Even though the findings have been reported by Pfizer as infrequent and rare the f-a-a is taking no chances.
