It's Independence Day for a 15-year old Vietnamese girl, she's free of a huge tumor that had been growing on her face since she was three years old.

Doctors at Holtz Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida removed the 16-pound tumor from Lai Thi Dao's face Wednesday, during a 12 hour surgery.

The tumor had taken over the lower part of the teen's face, eventually accounting for almost a third of her total body weight and was close to cutting off her airway passages.

Doctors say it was one of the largest tumors ever reported.

And in other medical news…
Visits to the doctor late in pregnancy often involve weight and blood pressure measures and making sure the baby is doing ok.

But new research suggests women about to give birth should also discuss with their doctors any symptoms of sadness or depression they may be experiencing.

New research from Australia suggests the strongest predictor of whether a new mom will experience post-partum depression is whether she was depressed shortly before giving birth.
