Matt and Cindy Brown had trouble conceiving. After fertility treatments though, Nathan was born. A year and a half later, they got a surprise. Noah came along.

"It was a really good surprise, but now we just don't want any more. We're happy with it," says Cindy.

So Matt decided he would get a vasectomy. The tubes that carry the sperm are cut and blocked. It is much quicker and easier procedure than a tubal ligation for woman, but with one big catch.

"Once the needle is inserted and the pain medication delivered, the vasectomy is fairly pain free," says Urologist Dr. Aaron Spitz.

Wait a minute. Did he say needle?

"The needle does not sound well at all," says Matt.

"[It’s] probably one of the biggest deal killers," says Dr. Spitz.

But now, a new technique does away with the needle altogether.

The no needle vasectomy delivers the anesthetic through a high powered air injector.

“It’s basically an air pump. The anesthetic is placed in this chamber here. The device is cocked which increases the pressure in the chamber. And then i simply place this end against the tissue and fire it," says Dr. Spitz.

The air injector administers the medicine as a fine spray at a very high pressure right through the skin, deep into the tissues. There's no bleeding and with less fluid and that makes the procedure easier and quicker.

"You feel nothing and everything is numb. And he goes to work and before you know it he is completed," says Matt.

Six days after the procedure, Matt is up and around with the children. Now they can look forward to raising their two children with peace of mind.
