About 125 members of the Wisconsin Army National Guard are back in the U.S. after an eight-month tour in Iraq.

The members of Troop E, 105th Cavalry are based in Merrill and Antigo. They arrived in southern Mississippi on Thursday and are expected in Wisconsin on Saturday.

The soldiers were stationed in central Iraq about 50 miles north of Baghdad. They conducted convoy security operations, escorting vehicles including fuel tankers throughout the country.

They drove 550,553 miles on 360 missions and experienced dozens of attacks.

With their return, the Wisconsin National Guard has about 250 soldiers and airmen on active duty.
