Rep. Suder Returns Home from Active Duty
Lawmaker focused on creating jobs, getting people back to work during the remaining legislative session.
Abbotsford… State Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford) announced today that he has completed his active military duty in the Middle East and returned home to Abbotsford this week. The lawmaker was deployed last September with members of the 115th Fighter Wing of the Wisconsin Air National Guard based in Madison, which was deployed to assist in the US military’s ongoing efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.
“I had the honor and privilege to serve with some of America’s best and brightest soldiers,” Suder said. “These men and women have served our country with dignity and distinction and I was proud to be a part of the important missions we carried out during our tour of duty. I enjoyed serving our country, but it sure is good to be home,” Suder concluded.
During his deployment, Suder stayed in regular contact with his legislative team in Madison which allowed him to effectively represent the interests of his constituents, despite being thousands of miles from the Capitol. Thanks to advances in technology, the lawmaker personally responded to many constituent emails and sent a weekly e-update to people in his district to keep them apprised of bills and issues being discussed in Madison. Suder said he plans to focus his efforts in the remaining days of session on working with both Democrats and Republicans to create jobs and rebuild the struggling economy.
“Although I wasn’t able to personally respond to every call or letter that came in, my Legislative team worked extremely hard to make sure that nothing fell through the cracks during my deployment,” Suder said. “I extend my sincere gratitude to the many people back home who sent me cards, letters, emails, and care packages. Their generosity and heartfelt words of encouragement truly kept my morale high and made me realize how lucky I am to work for and with such wonderful people.”
Representative Suder is a Staff Sergeant and works with the life-support unit that assists F-16 pilots who fly with the Wisconsin Air National Guard. Rep. Suder has been a member of the unit since 2003. He was previously deployed to Qatar in 2004.
