February 22, 2012 Updated 11:00 AMForecast DiscussionSunshine finally returns to Western Wisconsin, but not for very long. Increasing clouds throughout the day on Wednesday, and temps will remain about 8 degrees above normal. A weak system will arrive tomorrow and produce some light snow and snow showers. The system does not have a lot of moisture to work with, therefore snowfall totals will be on the light side. Tr-2" in Eau Claire, and 2-4" south of I-90. The timing of the snowfall could impact your drive or during your lunch time and evening commute home tomorrow. One weather model did produce as much as 3-6" of snow along hwy 29. Cooler air will move into Western Wisconsin by Friday and Saturday.
A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Buffalo, Trempealeau,Vernon, Juneau, Monroe, Pepin.. Houston, Winona Co, MN until 6PM Thursday.
Our attention then turns to the long range weather models. I talked about the potential for a significant winter storm on Sunday/Monday. The storm is still in my forecast, but the biggest question is storm track. Moisture will not be a problem, but we could see a rain/snow mix, which would impact snowfall totals. Forecast models can change dramatically in a short period of time, therefore I will not confident to predict snowfall totals. This storm could have a rather large impact on the Uppper Midwest Sunday through Monday.
