You know what my prediction might be hot air. I just wonder how many people are willing to flip that coin and see if I am right? I have seen the numbers of teachers retiring and leaving the profession. I have also seen the dramatic drop in people going into this profession. So yes I am guessing at what will happen and it is only a 50/50 chance but can we take that chance? I don't think we can.

A school is not a business - it is a sheltered workshop for the teachers.

Better yet, broadcast to homes, where the students are supervised by their very own parents.

Sorry, Duh!, but you are way off the mark. I am a self-employed professional with the requisite professional degree to match. A laid-off teacher with a master's in say, ESL, would not last a day in my "job." Way too much responsibility and accountability required in my profession. And, btw, I pay ALL of my own health insurance and retirement.

@One of the 99%, It's is none of your or my business how many millions @Eau Really needs. That is his/her business. Stick to your own business and quit being so intolerant and covetous of others.

Jobs went overseas to pay next to nothing in labor, and maximize profits for the handful of CEO's. Which..sadly...the poverty stricken lower class stands behind, chanting out "free enterprise!! go walker!!"

The elected board of ed. needs to approve.

Have you ever looked into how much money the unions have invested in companies owned by the Koch brothers? How ironic!!!!!!!

H, are you serious? The whole idea that Teachers are the root of all evil in WI is old, really old. I make a good wage, and I worked hard to do so. I pay taxes, my bills, my fair share...I don't think that my wage will ever be low enough for taxpayers.

You mean "was" an excellent district. Recall Walker!

HH, I'd love to hear more about these other districts. When given the chance, I'm sure that these districts knocked their seasoned staff down to starting/base salary. Over time, I'm sure that that really benefits the community. After all, when someone is making a decent wage, we'd better knock them down to where the rest of us are, right?

There was no negotiating with Walker and you darned well know it. Go ahead twist things around and keep living in your dream world if you must, but don't think for a minute that he ever had any intentions of negotiating anything.

This school district CHOSE not use those tools. School districts that did use the tools are in much better shape.

Barb, that is a an unbelievable claim. If Buffet wanted to pay more in taxes he could draw a salary from his company instead of just getting stock options and paying capital gains tax rates. He also could make a voluntary payment if he is feeling guilty. Sadly the fact is that his company is fighting with the IRS over one billion dollars that the IRS says he owes from years back but still will not pay. Your dog will not hunt.
