RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- A Racine woman has been charged with child neglect for allegedly leaving alone her 2-year-old son who climbed onto the roof and fell off.

Racine police arrested 21-year-old Evelyn Hiler Friday after a passer-by reportedly found the toddler bleeding from the nose, legs, back, knees and face and wandering outside at about 12:40 a.m.

Sgt. Marty Pavilonis tells The Journal Times reports (http://bit.ly/JOoVgi) the boy climbed onto the roof from a second-floor bedroom window and fell onto the sidewalk.

The mother allegedly told police she went to the neighbor's house for a minute.

The toddler was taken to a local hospital. Police say his injuries are not considered life-threatening.

Hiler was also charged Friday with child neglect resulting in great bodily harm, second-degree reckless injury and second-degree reckless endangerment.
