Eau Claire considering swapping land with company to keep it in the area

(WEAU) - The City of Eau Claire is looking at swapping land with a local company in order to keep it, and its jobs here.

Next week, city council members will look at a proposal to exchange vacant lots with Five Star Plastics so it can build an expansion in the Skypark area. City leaders say the company is also looking at buying a building in Kansas, and if it does, jobs would be lost here.

If it stays and expands, Eau Claire leaders say it would add 20 to 30 jobs.

The council votes on Tuesday.
