Sometimes the elderly are stubborn and won't take help,if it is offered. True that many are too busy to care but there are those that would prefer to 'tough it out' instead of accepting help.

One of the lady's that past away I knew very well. Lot of the people close to her asked if her place was cool enough and see told everyone it was. We also asked her if she wanted a window unit for her place and once again she said it was cool enough in her apartment. She is very well missed.

Some elderly do not have family nearby plus some elderly don't like to 'bother' anyone. An elderly family friend's AC went out and she had several options of staying with friends or family but refused.

I to believe the deaths could hav ebeen avoided. Where was the family members concern for the welfare of these people?? MANY of our elderly cant afford AC, much less a fan. Would it be so difficult to make sure your loved ones have something to cool them, or to have them stay with you, if at all possible, until the temps change? Oh, I forget, WERE too darn busy with our own lives to worry about our elderly Mom, Dad,brother/sister, aunt/uncle, or a neighbor!!!

Yes they do, older people and babies have a high chance especially if they have some other condition with it.

Can't people do something?? There has got to be somewhere that can maybe donate AC's to these elderly people and maybe to people who have small children. At least donate them and get them back when this is done. This is sad. I can't stand this heat, I have to start my car up before leaving just so my little girl can sit in her seat without getting burned. I can't imagine those people without AC...someone has to do something. I wish I could. I just don't have extra AC....maybe since the world is now so Central Air, people that have old AC window units sitting in their storage, maybe they can drop them off somewhere for donation? Just a thought. and maybe electric companies could jump in and give a discount to the bill.

This could all be avoided, so please try to do that.
