MADISON, Wis. (WEAU) – An Eau Claire company accused of violating environmental protection laws has agreed to pay $80,000 to settle the case.
Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced the WRR Environmental Services Company settlement Tuesday. The business treats and stores hazardous waste.
It’s accused of building a fuel blending area without a building permit. Prosecutors also say WRR ran a fuel blending process without a permit and ran a facility with cracked and pitted secondary containment systems.
The company also agreed to bring on a consultant to conduct an environmental compliance audit to identify and rectify additional harmful violations.
