MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has called Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker to talk about Sunday's shootings at a Sikh temple near Milwaukee that left seven people dead including the gunman.

Walker's spokesman Cullen Werwie says Hickenlooper called Walker on Wednesday. Werwie says Hickenlooper encouraged Walker to stay focused on offering support to the families of the victims and ensuring they have everything they need.

Werwie says Walker had called Hickenlooper the day after a gunman killed 12 and injured 58 at an Aurora, Colo., movie theater last week.

Although Hickenlooper is a Democrat and Walker is a Republican, Werwie says they are close and have worked together in the past.

Walker has attended two vigils in the wake of the shootings and Werwie says he plans to go to the funerals.
