SkyWarn 13 UPDATE: Snow continues

Posted: $util.date("h:mm a MMM d, yyyy",$story.contentLiveDate,$timeZone)
Reporter: SkyWarn13 Weather

A significant winter storm dropping heavy snow across the Central Plains and Midwest is heading our way, and will begin to impact Western Wisconsin from south to north today. This will be a moderate snow storm for the area, with a general 4-8" of accumulation expected before it winds down later today. The main band of accumulating snow will pivot north throughout the morning, tapering off to lighter snow between 11am and 1pm. We may see an additional inch through the afternoon, but the storm will be winding down at that point. Flurries and light snow showers are expected for your evening commute. Fortunately winds are not expected to be that strong during this storm, so blowing and drifting will be limited. Lingering light snow and flurries are possible through tonight and into a portion of Saturday with little additional accumulation expected. Winter weather advisories remain posted for the entire area until 6pm Friday.

Another storm could impact portions of the area early next week, but there is still plenty of uncertainty with the strength and track of this second storm, with at least a few more days to watch developments and get a better feel for a possible impact.
