Man sentenced to treatment following prison time

(WEAU) - A man serving time in prison made his plea to a different charge Thursday in Chippewa County.

Vern Stone Jr., 28, pleaded and was found not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect to two counts including battery by prisoner. The court determined he should get treatment, but it won't begin until he finishes a 10 year sentence on a separate conviction.

In April, police say the guard searching his cell was hit with a TV cable, and was hurt while blocking the swinging cable with his hands.
