(WEAU)--Soon we will be saying bye to snow and hello to pollen!
Allergy experts say this season will start earlier and last longer.

"Every year we say it could be the worst allergy season ever but this year it could be significant just do to the length of our winter and all the precipitation we've gotten. Then there is the potential for the onset of several things starting to grow at the same time and releasing more pollen,” said Kristin Rubenzer with Marshfield Clinic.

But Rubenzer says there are things you can do now to help avoid the watery, itchy eyes and runny nose.

"Start taking medications a few weeks before they're allergies even start can help prevent some of the symptoms," said Rubenzer.

Rubenzer says you should talk to your health care provider before choosing an over the counter allergy blocker to make sure it won’t interfere with any other medication.
