Police ask people to be on the lookout for propane thieves

(WEAU) - A local police department says it’s having problems with people stealing 20 pound tanks of propane.

The Sparta Police Department says thefts of the tanks are on the rise. Officers say they think people are stealing the tanks, which are commonly left outside homes or businesses, and then taking them to propane dealers, to turn them in for their cash value.

Officers ask you to call the Monroe County Communications Center at (608) 269-8712 if you see anything suspicious.
