They need more bartendes because more customes are going in and spending money. That is a sign things are improving. If people had a negative outlook, they would be staying home. Pretty simple concept really.

Seeing that the bars are hiring shows that some compounding growth is happening. The length of time a dollar earned in Rusk County stays in Rusk County is an indicator in economic growth. Conscience consumerism is supporting local business when possible because they are more inclined to hire and contract with locals.

On a glum day, Steve-o, I think you're right. It's called tar-paper-shack mentality. Of course those in the good ol' boys' club are and always have been averse to change. Too threatening socially and economically.

Its good to see the Rusk County economy doing better at a time when many local economies around the state are struggling. I still think that the loss of Mount Senario College a decade ago is a loss that Rusk County and the City of Ladysmith have not recovered from.

A nuclear power plant or 2 would be interesting provided that The Flambeau River or Chippewa River provide enough water. Rusk County doesn't need anymore power but it would be able to provide more power to others that way not just by hydro power. A Nuclear dumb I would say no and not a Nuclear test site no.

The problem with Ladysmith is location. It is just to far from everything else.

maybe rusk county should have concentraded more on economic development than worrying about being a "nuculer free zone" what a joke.

I have no problem with the need for public assistance for those food stamps, fuel and BadgerCare as long as that person is also ATTEMPTING to help themselves. The problem I have is the ones who sit around and do nothing because things will be given to them.

I have 2 associate degrees and a BS. I can't find a job, so bettering yourself isn't always the answer.

What would benefit Ladysmith would be nothing. Some towns you can't help and no matter how much you invest you'll never attract the employees you are looking for.

There is a reason that people that work at wal mart and other low wage jobs only make a low wage. there is a general lack of skill and a high school kid can do it. you increase your wage thru self betterment. maybe if you can't cut it on one of those jobs you need to find a better one.

When it comes to politics, it is seems like a total waste of time to even vote, but I always do anyhow because if you don't, it's pretty disingenuous to complain about anything afterward. I did not vote for Scott Walker last time. However, at that time I did not realize the scale of what had been happening and the amounts of money in fringe benefits many public employees were getting compared to what I have been paying and getting. I keep hearing them say, "Get a government job if you want what we have". They actually believe everyone can work for the government!! I would assume this mentality is taught both at home and at school because it is so wholeheartedly embraced by them. Everyone working for the government is socialism and since I abhor that idea, I am voting for Walker and any all Independents and Conservatives just to avoid any scenario such as that.
