Packers trade up again, taking NC State LB Manning

Posted: 12:48 PM Apr 28, 2012

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers traded up again to get even more defensive help, picking North Carolina State linebacker Terrell Manning in the fifth round.

The 6-2, 237-pound Manning had 10 sacks and 27.5 tackles for losses in three seasons with the Wolfpack.

Green Bay now has taken defensive players with each of its first six picks after taking offensive players with five of their first six last year.

The Packers traded up with New England to acquire the 163rd overall selection, a pick they actually traded away to the Patriots earlier in the draft. They gave away a sixth-round pick and two seventh-rounders in the trade, leaving them with a pair of seventh-round compensatory picks near the end of the draft.
