Loggers win Northwoods League Championship

sse Loggerspounded the Mankato MoonDogs on Friday 8-1 at Copeland Park to claim their first Northwoods League Championship.

An RBI single by Brandon Bednar and a three-run double by Tyler Kuresa helped the La Crosse Loggers score four runs in the third. The La Crosse Loggers had three hits in the inning.

Tyler Servais racked up two RBIs on two hits for the La Crosse Loggers. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the fifth inning.

The Mankato MoonDogs couldn't get anything going as long as Jesse Holiday was pitching. The Mankato MoonDogs managed just three hits off of the the La Crosse Loggers' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out four during his five innings of work.

Matt Marsh was effective even in defeat, mowing down six the La Crosse Loggers batters and allowing one run.

Mike Avila (0-1) took the loss for the Mankato MoonDogs. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed five runs.

La Crosse did not lose a game in the postseason, going 4-0 on their way to the Northwoods League title.
