$2 million winning Powerball lottery ticket sold in Eau Claire

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A $2 million winning Powerball lottery ticket was sold at a gas station in Eau Claire Wednesday night.

The winning ticket was sold at the Kwik Trip on 1130 West Mac Arthur Ave.

Two other Powerball winning tickets were sold in Wisconsin on Wednesday. Two $10,000 winning tickets were sold, one at the Kwik Trip in Sparta on Black River Street, and the other sold in Stevens Point.

The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday's drawing were 12, 23, 25, 27 and 43 with a Powerball of 29.

No winners have come forward. The winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the big prize.

Store leader Dan Harriman said the store's a winner too, getting around $40,000 from the state lottery office.

"Now that we're known as one of the 'lucky' stores, that we might sell a few more now," Harriman said.

"Just to be in Eau Claire, in our side of town, especially in our store, is pretty amazing."

Northwestern Mutual financial advisor Joel Molitor said it's easy for those who get a life-changing amount of money suddenly to make mistakes.

"Some of that $1.3 million will go towards immediate stuff, buying a car and house ... you wanna make good smart longterm decisions and be very patient with stuff. That's hard to do when you have a lot of people bringing ideas to the table and all the sudden, half your money's gone and it's only a year later," Molitor said.

"I'd imagine their goal would be to sustain the money for a long time and hopefully make it a long term adjustment for their life."
