Improvements are ongoing at the Chippewa Valley Regional Airport as crews repair and add a new taxiway to the facility's largest runway. The addition will temporarily close the runway, but is just one small part to the multi-million dollar master expansion project. Also in the works: crews are set to break ground on an airtraffic control tower later this month and airport officials are looking into the possible construction of a new terminal. Airport Manager Jerome Thiele says they are planning for the future and one day hope to accommodate three or four airlines. He also says a new facility would be necessary to attract more carriers and meet future passenger and security demands.
