Teachers' Union Criticized for Ad

A lot of ugly accusations are made about candidates during the course of an election cycle.

Now a group of local politicians says the state's largest teachers' union has gone to far.

Area Republicans say a radio advertisement paid for by the Wisconsin Education Association Council is factually inaccurate, and they're asking the teachers' union to pull the ad from the airways.

The spot claims Chippewa Falls Assemblyman Jeff Wood cut benefits for veterans.

Terry Musser, Chairman of the Veterans' Affairs Committee, says the ad is wrong, and that no cuts have been made to veterans' benefits or programs.

Wood's Democratic opponent, Jeff Monette, says he's not the one behind the WEAC advertisement, and he can't do anything about it.

The spokesperson from the WEAC says the union stands behind the ad, and they have no plans to pull it.
