Twenty years ago, Randy Hepp began his career in corrections as an officer at the Dodge Correctional Institution in Waupun. He's come a long ways since then, and today he was sworn in as the warden at the Jackson Correctional Institution.
"It's a little overwhelming, terribly humbling to know that you are considered capable to stand beside the other wardens in Wisconsin that have had such a history throughout the nation as one of the leaders in corrections," says Hepp.
The 950 bed medium-security correctional institution opened in 1996, and is one of twenty correctional facilities in the state. The Jackson facility staffs more than three hundred people.
