Defibrillator Recall

Attorney General Peg Lautenschlager has issued a reminder to Wisconsin residents that the deadline to replace faulty defibrillators is January 15, 2005.

The state's Justice Department learned that Access CardioSystems (ACS) Inc. of Concord, Massachusetts, issued an urgent recall of some of its automated external defibrillator (AED) devices.

The company officially recalled two products with the following serial numbers.
075690-077140
075180-084760

The devices could either fail to deliver a shock, or they may automatically turn themselves on.

The company has discontinued manufacturing and marketing all models of its AED's, though not all of the company's AED's are affected.

There may be as many as 1000 currently in use in the state. Since the company has gone out of business, Matrix Medical is offering a trade-in program for the faulty devices. To learn more you can call (800) 845-3550.
