Shootings May Have Saved Lives
Game wardens say the killing of six deer hunters near Rice Lake probably played a role in reducing other gun injuries during the nine-day hunt.
This year's hunt turned out to be the safest deer season on record, in terms of firearm-related accidents.
The wardens say the shootings in Sawyer County were not related to gun safety, but they still increased awareness of safe gun handling.
