Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources sharpshooters will roam Dane, Iowa, Richland, Kenosha, Racine and Rock counties next week to bait and shine deer afflicted with chronic wasting disease.
This is the first time the DNR is using sharpshooters to reduce the state herd and curb the spread of the disease. The dead deer will be tested and disease-free carcasses will be donated to food pantries.
