A mother and her ten-year-old daughter are dead in an apartment fire in Winona.
Police Chief Frank Pomeroy says the fire was reported at the Sugar Loaf Apartments shortly before 3:30 this morning. He said emergency personnel pulled the 29-year-old woman and her daughter from their apartment but efforts to revive them failed.
Pomeroy said the victims were the only occupants of the apartment. Their names haven't been released.
The police chief said both suffered burns and smoke inhalation.
One firefighter was treated at the hospital but no other injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire hasn't been determined, but Pomeroy says arson is not suspected
