A recent study says almost a quarter of adults in the U.S. are caring for or assisting elderly relatives with their daily activities.
To help those people, the Department on Aging in Eau Claire and Chippewa counties have formed the Chippewa Valley Caregivers Alliance.
The alliance helps to provide families with information classes and living options for older relatives, as well as support groups for caregivers.
"Caregivers are overwhelmed with all the things they have to do," says Lisa Wells, the Eau Claire County Department on Aging's coordinator for the family support program. "This is an opportunity for them to look at some of the resources they need and talk to people."
