Intelligence Officer Delivers Afghanistan Presentation

Colonel Michael Boardman, an Intelligence Officer stationed in Arizona, spoke with them Thursday afternoon.

Prior to his current assignment, Colonel Boardman served for six months in Afghanistan as the Chief of Military Intelligence.

He says there is a plan in place in the war-torn country, and it's working. The first presidential election involving universal sufferage in Afghan history serves as proof of that.

"It represents the afghans striving for the peace and stability they had more than 20 years ago," he said.

Some 10,000 Americans are still serving in Afghanistan; a fraction of those in Iraq, which is why Colonel Boardman says it doesn't garner the attention of the effort in Iraq.

He's originally from Washington State, but his wife is from Eau Claire.
