The president of National Business Institute, Jim Rich, confirms there were 18 terminations out of their 170 employees.
NBI, located in Altoona, offers continuing education seminars for attorneys, accountants, and other business professionals.
Employees say they were told the lay-offs were because of financial reasons.
They say some of the workers had been employed there for 20 years. They also say they've been offered severance packages.
